First of all, thanks for reading the post and commenting,you make some very valid arguments.I am not trying to take away from what Sabathia achieved this season. He is a great pitcher, and should be recognized for that. He had a better regular season then Josh Beckett.
I just have some “sour grapes” that Beckett didn’t win the award. I think although Sabathia had better numbers, Beckett was more valuable to his team. I agree that the voting system is flawed, and the pitchers that don’t make the playoffs still need be considered. But after the playoff performance that Beckett had, I think he is the best pitcher in the majors and was hoping he would be rewarded for it.

Thanks again for commenting. Let’s hope for another Indians/Red Sox rematch in next years playoffs.

First of all, I’m an Indians fan. Secondly, I think that it’s kinda stupid to base the award on the season, but then again, not every pitcher plays in the post-season, so I can see the rationale. Third, there’s no question that Beckett is the better pitcher overall. I believe he deserved the Cy. Fourth, I know for a fact CC would rather win the Series than the Cy Young. But, you act like the Cy Young Award was a no-brainer. Given the parameters of the award (agree or disagree with them if you will), CC was a deserving candidate. He pitched masterfully and was dominating down the stretch in the regular season. Hell, he had a streak of 10 games giving up 2 earned runs or less. The man deserves some props. If the only way to make your case is by saying what a “loser” he is, then I wonder how strong your case really is.

Clevland can have their Chocolate Cake and Eat it too!!! Given the system in which we award the “best” pitcher in baseball, C.C. may have won based on whatever BS system is produce for this award from the minds of the same moron that made the BCS and the florida voting system. I can say that not a single Red Sox or Indians fan would choose to have CC over Beckett. Have your Cy Young winner, when you want a world series, look for someone more like Beckett.
