The Rays aren't a AAA club?!?! lol
Pedroia
Papelbon
Youkilis
Delcarmen
Lowrie
Lester
Ellsbury
Buchholz
Masterson
The Sox have been competitive for several years, and have still managed to develop their core players and are now in good position to remain competitive in the future.

How exactly do you devolp young talent? By picking in the top 3 in every single draft, and what makes those picks so high? sucking every single year. So how do the red sox and yankees stay competitive if they pick 30th in every draft? By using there money to lure those same great players the sucky teams drafted. in a nutshell, the small market teams are a farm system for big name clubs. How many times on this site alone have you called the rays a "triple AAA" team?

These owners aren't idiots. If they can still make millions without having to improve their teams why would they? I agree that they shouldn't be owners, but it looks good on a resume if they ever want to be President of the United States. Teams like Tampa, Minnesota and Florida are competing, and do have a chance. This is because they are smart, and develop their young talent. Tampa has proven that you don't need a 100 million dollar payroll for success.

If you do away with the revenue sharing, the balance of power shifts even more to the big name clubs, if owners dont want to win, (vince namoli) they shouldnt be owners, they should sell the teams to owners that do (stu sternberg) if your gonna do away with revenue sharing, then implement a salary cap. Something has to be done so small market teams like KC, Minnesota, Tampa bay, and Florida have a chance. The NFL is a perfect model, every team has a chance, every year.

A lot of baseball owners don't give a damn about winning. They are business men first, baseball fans second. I think MLB needs to do away with revenue sharing. Why reward the owners that don't give a crap about their teams? As long as these owners continue to profit from mediocre teams at the expense of the Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, Dodgers..., why would they try and improve?

I have said this to alot of people, but if i ever have to see one of the five untouchables, (crawford, upton, longoria, kazmir, and price), put on a New york or boston uniform, i will lose all faith in baseballs salary structure, and i will never watch another baseball game as long as i live. Baseball needs a salary cap in the worst way, boston and new york deserve last place finishes just like everyone else, now they can buy there way to at least respectable finishes every year.

I'm a huge Kazmir fan, but I am holding out hope that his recent struggles continue. I know it will never happen, but I would love to see Kazmir in a Sox uniform.

Dan,
I don't think the problem is that I'm underestimating the Rays...I'm starting to wonder if I'm overestimating the Red Sox. What ever the case may be, I have one more trick up my sleeve to turn this thing around.
Stay Tuned

You have underestimated the rays all season long, and it keeps workin for us, so keep it comin! After watching these two teams play all year, I have made an observation, it is not arrogant, or even gloating.

The Tampa Bay Rays are simply a better team than the Boston Red Sox.
