A Change Is Gonna Do Me Good
Change is important. The prospect of change is what led to Barack Obama becoming our 44th president. And when it came to the off-season for the Boston Red Sox, change was very good.
I love the improvements that Theo Epstein made to his lineup. Say goodbye to Jason Bay, Billy Wagner, Takashi Saito, and Alex Gonzalez. Au revoir to seeing Mike Lowell and Jason Varitek as everyday players. It’s time to say hello to the new guys that are going to lead the Red Sox to the 2010 World Series.
John Lackey
The best available pitcher on the market is now locked up for five years in Boston. Lackey is a bulldog that will give the Sox another #1 pitcher that will win 15+ games and throw 200 innings. A trio of Jon Lester, Josh Beckett, and John Lackey has to scare the crap out of the New York Yankees. Great move.
Marco Scutaro
Here’s a guy that defends his position well, hits for average, steals a few bases, and solidifies the shortstop position until Jose Iglesias is ready, hopefully in two years.
Mike Cameron
37-year-old centerfielders aren’t usually my cup of tea, but the word around MLB is that Cameron is a great clubhouse guy, plays Gold Glove defense, and has a swing tailor-made for smacking doubles off the Green Monster. He’ll be another bridge for the Sox young outfielders.
Adrian Beltre
This guy didn’t hit his weight last year, fractured one of his testicles (doesn’t wear a cup), and was rumored to be asking for a 5-year, $65 million free-agent contract. Boston landed him on a 1-year, $10 million deal. He’ll be a huge improvement defensively over the aging Mike Lowell. He plays a sick 3rd base and has a laser-rocket arm. I think he’ll hit 25 homeruns, bat .270 and win the Gold Glove.
The great thing about these moves is that it didn’t cost Boston any of its prospects. If these moves falter, Theo Epstein still has the resources to make a significant deal at the trade deadline.
Pitching and defense wins championships. Boston is poised to win another one.

Nice info on our 2010 team..We have a great second baseman .,,the yuk at first, a speedster in the out field and papellboner in thebull pen..WOW. I hope big poppeeee gets off his ass and hits.Just beating the yankees and those Smell swampy Devil RAYS would be nice..my first pick this year is CARL CRAWFORD… sorry tampas fans.. Question if BELTRE doesnt wear a CUP What does he drink out of a BOTTLE?..An did his voice change when he got hurt? Reading the FOULINE MAKES MY DAY.. NICE THANKS.. 2010 BOSTON BADBOYS YEAR ! SO WATCH OUT ………………….king rat is coming……………………..
January 28th, 2010 at 3:40 pm
John Lackey won 19 games on 2007. Do you know how many other times he won 15 games? None. Zero. He hasnt pitched 200 innings in two seasons, hes been hurt the last two years, has never pitched in the AL East before, and hes 31 years old. This was not a smart deal for the red sox. Thats alot of money to throw at him. And Jason Bays hole on offense is severe. The red sox are not a better team than they were in 2009.
January 28th, 2010 at 4:31 pm
I spoke to John Lackeys Wife She said “He better kick ass this year for the sox or he sleeps ALONE”Pitch Johnnie pitch.(nice n.h. girl).Jason Bay sucked. . BIG ASS OUT FIELD IN METS land . he is screwed..Boston was made for him he s a GREED BASTARD .
…HE WILL FOLD IN New York… like a Tampa Bay Cow Bell..tHE RAYS GOT JOHNIE I THROW LIKE A GIRL DAMON?????
January 28th, 2010 at 5:13 pm
What is that you’ve said in the past Dan, pitching and defense wins games. The Sox are without a doubt better defensively. They have Lackey as their #3 starter. And they have a whole season of offensive production from Victor Martinez. They are without a doubt better then the team that won 95 games last year.
Also… Rafeal Betencourt will not be the Rays savior this year.
January 28th, 2010 at 5:15 pm
I guarantee John Lackey wins more games than any one of the Rays starters this season. That’s money well spent!
January 28th, 2010 at 5:27 pm
Interesting that you say that, seeing as how TWO rays starters finished with more wins than john lackey last year. At about an 8th of the cost no less. I guarantee lackey hits the DL at least once, and two rays starters win more games. And soriano will have a lower ERA than mr bases loaded jonathon papelbon. No way he wiggles out of every single jam again. And even if martinez as a career year, hes just replacing bay, so there not gaining anything.
January 28th, 2010 at 5:53 pm
I love that it’s January and we’re debating Sox and Rays already. I just hope that Tampa can improve on their 3rd place, 18 games out of first place this year….. but I doubt it.
January 28th, 2010 at 5:59 pm
Indeed its quite fun isnt it? Rays got there closer, thats what they needed. There improved, count on it.
January 28th, 2010 at 9:12 pm
THE RED SOX PITCHING IS A THREE HEADED MONSTER. YA BABY AN A RELIEF PITCH ISNOT GOING TO MAKE UP FOR AN 18 GAMES BEHIND(RAYS)..Last year the yankees had ton of homeruns, Now with Winn and Johnson ON THE TEAM THEY SHOT THEM SELVES IN THE ass..NICE ..An its only JANUARY..Question of the week will RAYS fans show up this year?MORE THAN 500 at a game ..????????????????.
February 2nd, 2010 at 7:05 pm
I saw this rotation in a mock draft:
1. Tim Lincecum
2. Zack Greinke
3. Jon Lester
4. Matt Cain
5. Ubaldo Jimenez.
What do you think? lol
February 3rd, 2010 at 4:15 pm
I have a book with 20 mock drafts…and two Rays players are in the top 10. in all of them. the sports writers pick em . i saw your # 1 AND 2 Dan IN THE TOP 10 ALSO. Can not wait for the draft.. I guess the best postion to pick is # 4.. #1 is ok but its for ever waiting to get next pick.i I think I will pick then intire oakland team. what the hell they wear green. I like GREEN.
February 3rd, 2010 at 4:41 pm
Im getting tired of waiting for baseball. With no football febuary is gonna be the longest month of the year even though its the shortest. Cant wait for the draft!
February 3rd, 2010 at 4:55 pm
Hey guys, My names Mike. Im a friend of Dan “the #1 rays fan”. I just wanted to say thanks for the invite to the league this year. It will be a tight race in the east this year. go rays!!
February 3rd, 2010 at 8:17 pm
Hey Mike..Welcome to the site. We look forward to your baseball perspective, and trash talking. We’ll work on getting you to dump that loser team you follow and start supporting the Red Sox!
February 4th, 2010 at 2:17 pm
i rather watch my Grandma get torchered. lol but its nice to be part of a league where everyone cares about their teams.
February 4th, 2010 at 2:35 pm
I second his notion.
February 4th, 2010 at 3:45 pm
Is your Grandmother a Rays fan? If so, she’s suffered enough…
February 4th, 2010 at 7:05 pm
Im not making this up, there were actually red sox fans grandmothers who went there entire LIVES without seeing a championship. Talk about suffering…..
February 4th, 2010 at 8:04 pm
I hope that there are Rays fans Great-great Grandmothers that get the same treatment
February 4th, 2010 at 9:24 pm
I have a Match where the HELL IS GRANNIE.POOOOOOOF…………….I went to every RAYS open day for 6 years .and the only time it was sold out was the first one against Detroit . section 301 NOSE BLEED. we always had a Rays package deal so we could see the good teams come in with the good players. And watch the RAYS GET THIER ASSES KICKED .THE Rays where a bunch of cheap bastards for years ..NOW IS THIS NEW GUY MIKE GOING TO GET PISSED OFF WHEN WE CALL HIM A pussy? and give him a lot of crap if so GOOD .. (JOKING MIKE).
WELCOME TO THE TWILIGHT ZONE ………………………Dave has a dad that waited 65 years to see BOSTON win one …thank god for the CELTICS
February 4th, 2010 at 11:54 pm
thanks for that warm welcoming MR BASEA BALLS.. but out of all honesty, WHEN the old folks here in st pete get to see a ring, they will always miss their 1 dollar nosebleeds.
February 5th, 2010 at 1:06 am
Mr BASEA BALLS will draft john smoltz in the later rounds, and smoltz will still be half his age.
February 6th, 2010 at 12:07 am
TRUE YOUNG DAN AND MY BOY JOHN WILL WIN 20 GAMES AND BE MVP .. maybe
February 6th, 2010 at 9:31 am
Ok boys, lets talk a little fantasy baseball. If the draft was tomorrow, who do you think the first five picks would be?
My prediction:
1. Pujols
2. Hanley
3. A-Rod (booooo!)
4. Utley
5. Prince Fielder
Thoughts?
February 6th, 2010 at 12:28 pm
Lincecum!
February 6th, 2010 at 1:20 pm
Is 3rd to high for A-Rod? I know hes money in the postseason now, but his age and that hip still scare me. Ill take Longoria over him.
February 6th, 2010 at 3:24 pm
Dan, I don’t want you to give up your draft day secrets, but who’s your top five?
February 6th, 2010 at 4:26 pm
1. Pujols
2. Hanley
3.Lincecum
4. Braun
5. Fielder
February 6th, 2010 at 6:09 pm
MAYBE
1 PUJOLS
2 LINCECUM
3 HANLEY
4 HOWARD
5 MAUER
6 TEIXEIRA
7 TED WILLIAMS
8 MICKEY MANTLE
IT SUCKS WHENA TOP CHOICE GETS HURT… LIKE WEBB LAST YEAR IT KILLED ME .I WOULD HAVE WON IT ALL ha
February 6th, 2010 at 6:10 pm
SUPER BOWL WINNERS……..SAINTS BY FOUR….. WHAT DO YOU GIRLS THINK?
February 6th, 2010 at 6:57 pm
Colts by 10
February 6th, 2010 at 7:24 pm
Colts by 14, but I hope Peyton Manning breaks his leg.
February 6th, 2010 at 7:26 pm
Hey Pop, my 1st round pick was hurt and didn’t play and I DID win it all
ha
February 6th, 2010 at 7:33 pm
Dont kid yourself, even if peyton manning breaks his leg hes still better than tom brady. And my first round pick got hurt and i was a yankeehater beatdown away from a playoff spot!
February 6th, 2010 at 8:47 pm
Brady has more rings…and there is no way a one legged Manning is better than Brady. That’s just ridiculous
February 7th, 2010 at 2:34 am
Trent Dilfer has more rings than Dan Marino. That dont make him a better QB. Manning has more MVPs, more yards, TDs, Pass Completions, Quarterback rating, more wins, pretty much every stat that matters. And when manning wins tomorrow thats 3 to 2. The ring argument is over. Besides the patriots cheated anyway.
February 7th, 2010 at 6:24 am
Hey everyone im posting this so we will all be on equal footing. If some of us dont know the new rules and some of us do it would be quite unfair.
New scoring system Change
Win 7 points
Save 7 points
Shutout 0 points
Quality Start 3 points
Strikeout 1 point .5 points
Base on Balls -1 point
Inning Pitched 3 points
Hits Allowed -1 point
Earned Runs -1 points
Blown Save 0 points
Hits Batsman -1 point
Loss -5 points
What does everyone think? Blown saves no longer penalize you, and saves are now 7 points instead of 5. Earned runs allowed are now -1 point instead of -2, The pitcher hitting a batter now costs you a point. Strikeouts for a pitcher are now half a point instead of a full point. My favorite change is the addition of quality starts for a pitcher. Thats a nice add by CBS. I HATE taking the 5 point bonus for complete game shutouts. There not special anymore. And pitchers should get a full point for a K. Thats just my opinion.
February 7th, 2010 at 9:59 am
Putting Dilfer and Marino in the same argument about Quarterbacks is retarded. Manning and Brady are going to go down in NFL history as two of the top 5 QBs to ever play the game. Regardless of stats, my argument was that a one-legged Manning is not better then Brady :)
go Saints
February 7th, 2010 at 10:01 am
As for the new scoring changes.. I like them. It doesn’t change my overall strategy, but it’s going to make for interesting H2H games this season.
With that being said, Let’s do this damn draft already!!!
February 7th, 2010 at 2:11 pm
OLD MAN RIVER HERE..SO TO DAY IS SUPER BOWL SUNDAY.. BIG FRIGGIN DEAL..NOW IN MY DAY FOOTBALL PLAYERS PLAYED BOTH WAYS OFFENSE AND DEFENCE. .THEY NEVER CAME OFF THE FIELD. THE PLAYERS HAD A LITTLE BAR ON THEIR HELMETS NOT BIG ASS CAGES . AND 10 POUNDS OF PADDING ON THIER BODYS..
FOOTBALL PLAYERS WHERE TOUGH GUYS .. NOW THEY ALL SEEM SO DAM PRETTY,THEY GOT TEETH AND ALL THIER HAIR AND ARE TO DAM HAPPY. SELLING CRAP ON THE TV..MAKING TONS OF MONEY.. IN THE OLD DAYS FOOTBALL AND BASEBALL PLAYERS HAD JOBS IN THE OFF SEASON. COULD GO TO A GAME FOR 2 BUCKS NOW YOU GOTTA SELL ONE OF YOUR KIDS FOR A TICKET NOW BASE BALL IS STILL BASEBALL.
EXCEPT FOR THE D H IT HAS NOT CHANGED.. BOY I MISS PEE WEE REESE.. ICE CREAM AT THE HOME TO NIGHT .. LETS PLAY TWO..
February 7th, 2010 at 3:00 pm
I will grant you Thomas Edward Brady is a great QB. I will grant you a one legged manning is not a better QB. I will grant you comparing trent dilfer and dan marino is retarded lol. I just hate boston sports lol. And what do you think of losing the shutout bonus? I think it sucks. You dont get anything for a gem. And taking a point off of earned runs helps the Boston Braves crappy two start pitcher strategy. I hope these scoring changes dont affect the lead in a negative way.
February 7th, 2010 at 3:01 pm
League* not lead.
February 7th, 2010 at 3:04 pm
I agree Dan, the shutout bonus was pretty cool. I think the addition of the quality start is a good thing. I also think that 7pts for a save is going to have guys in the league reaching early for closers.
February 7th, 2010 at 3:11 pm
Indeed. And no blown saves also means closers are more important than they have ever been. And after my closer situation last year I intend to get a good one.
February 7th, 2010 at 6:18 pm
OLD MAN RIVER HERE..A QUARTERBACK IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE TEAM AROUND HIM…I BELIEVE TODAY THE SAINTS ARE GOING TOBE ALL OVER YOUNG PAYTON. IT GOING TO BE FUN! AT THE HOME WE NOW HAVE CLOSED CAPTION.. I HOPEI DONT FALL A SLEEP.I HAVE A BOWL OF JELLO BET ON IT.. VERY NICE
February 7th, 2010 at 9:30 pm
Saints still suck
February 8th, 2010 at 10:46 pm
ya danny but they won..
February 9th, 2010 at 12:03 am
Yes I aware of this. I was rooting for the colts. Hard. Thats three world series and two super bowls in a row where the team i wanted to win lost.
February 9th, 2010 at 7:22 pm
Point of fact that you may find interesting Dan:
Tom Brady 14-4 in the playoffs (3 rings)
Payton Manning 9-9 in the playoffs (1 ring)
Manning is an all time great, but is his greatness overstated?
February 9th, 2010 at 9:43 pm
You are very correct. Those numbers are very convincing indeed. But shall we look a little more into it?
In 2001 Tom Brady became the starting QB and led the patriots to the super bowl. The patriots were ranked 6th in total defense. The colts were ranked DEAD LAST in total defense. The Patriots won the super bowl by holding the greatest offense ever at the time to 17 points. And one of those scores was a interception return for a touchdown. Brady didnt do much.
In 2002 the pats fell all the way back to 9-7 and missed the playoffs. There defense was ranked 17.
In 2003 the Pats won the super bowl again. There were number 1 in the NFL in scoring defense. The colts went 12-4. The colts were ranked 20th in total defense.
2004 Pats win it again. Ranked 2nd in total defense. Manning sets an NFL record with 49 touchdowns. Defense is ranked 19th. Colts go 12-4.
2006 Colts break through and finally win it all, beating the patriots in the process. The pats were 2nd in total defense. Colts were 22nd. The colts came back from an 18 point deficit.
The point to all this is tom brady has always had great defense backing him up. Manning has done more with WAY less. Plus the patriots shouldnt have won the super bowl in 2001 anyway. They lost to the raiders in the divisional playoff when tom brady fumbled with less than 2 minutes left.
February 10th, 2010 at 8:20 pm
Zzzzzzzzz…… Wake me up when the baseball talk returns
February 11th, 2010 at 4:28 pm

February 12th, 2010 at 11:27 pm

5 days until Pitchers and Catchers Arrive @ Hammond
15 days until Twins vs Red Sox @ City of Palms

February 16th, 2010 at 2:43 pm
Whats up with the sox? Tampa Bay Rays North anyone? Jorge Sosa? Joe Nelson? Brian Shouse? Ramon A Rameriez? Rays roster is clearly better of course. Im printing playoff tickets already!
Is baseball here yet? No? This is annoying.
February 16th, 2010 at 3:46 pm
“playOFFS? PLAYoffs? WERE NOT TALKIN” BOUT PLAYOFFS!!!”
Have fun trying to get through the AL East while the Twins cruise into the playoffs in the Central. There is NO other team in the Central to compete. Twins boosted their payroll by 30mill, made for the first time in their history, multiple free agent signings AND are moving into their new ballpark with a “soon to be finalized” contract with the AL MVP, Batting Champ and Gold Glove winning Joe Mauer.
All I can say is DANGEROUS!
Matt ” **preys the Twins dont end up like the Indians did 2 years ago with all the hype** ” McLaughlin
February 16th, 2010 at 4:08 pm
Hey Matt Mc,
thanks for checking in, it’s been a long time. What is it that you do for the Twins? Does this mean your not a Sox fan anymore? Are you and your Dad in for Fantasy baseball?
As for Dan the #1 Rays fan… You have to be excited that the Rays ownership is cutting payroll for 2011. Take a good look at Carl Crawford this year at the Trop, because he’ll be playing for Boston next year. Hahahaha, and the rich get richer.
February 16th, 2010 at 4:35 pm
Hahaha keep dreaming. Crawford in fenway is the funniest thing I heard all day. I really needed that! Like Crawford with all his speed is gonna sign up to play in a LF thats as big as my living room. Crawford is way to good of a fielder to need a crutch behind him like the green monster. Good luck replacing Jason Bay, Mike Cameron sucks. Oh and hes a roid user.
February 16th, 2010 at 4:45 pm
Sad, sad Dan… Crawford doesn’t give a crap about how big left field is at Fenway. He, much like every other athlete is going to sign for the most amount of money offered. Which means cheap-ass Tampa is out, and Boston and New York will be fighting over him.
Enjoy 3rd place again suckers!!!!
February 16th, 2010 at 5:50 pm
Resorting to stealing other players team are we? Cant grow your own? Is “the best organaztion in baseball” gonna resort to buying championships? Talk about sad, trying to become the one thing you swore you hated? Sell your soul, be my guest. As if I didnt already hate the red sox enough already. 3rd place for Tampa Bay. Not happening there friend, that spot is reserved for the red sox, as it was for 80 something years. Well 3rd or worst anyway. And cheap ass tampa? Thats all the salary structure my friend. Two teams can have a bidding war over any player it wants while other teams watch? Oh thats fair. Theres clearly competitive balence in baseball. Lets see how boston would fare with the rays money. They would go NOWHERE. Have fun thinking your gonna get CC, it makes it all the more hilarious when he finishes his career in st pete, where he wants to be.
February 16th, 2010 at 6:04 pm
Not only did you bring up CC leaving the rays, you said he was going to the yankees or red sox. What have I ever done to you? How can you be so cruel?!?!
February 16th, 2010 at 6:08 pm
Boston can afford free agents because they actually have a fanbase. The Rays are two more mediocre seasons away from being relocated into the Reno, Nevada Rays. When this happens…. and it will eventually, don’t come crying to me begging to join Red Sox Nation. The answer is NO!!!
February 16th, 2010 at 6:59 pm
How in the world can you compare a 100 year old fanbase to a 12 year old fan base? You expect a team thats been around 12 years to have a fanbase like the yankees or the red sox? Thats retarded.
February 16th, 2010 at 7:04 pm
You’re absolutely right Dan, there is no comparison between the Red Sox and Rays. That’s the best compliment I’ve ever heard!
February 16th, 2010 at 7:07 pm
I knew you were gonna say that you know. And there is a comparison between the two. Oh there is.
February 16th, 2010 at 7:29 pm
lol!..on a different subject, are you going to make it to any spring training games this year?
February 16th, 2010 at 7:32 pm
I really want to. I havent seen the new facility yet. If i went it would be against the orioles or something. Cheaper lol
February 17th, 2010 at 2:40 am
Dont get me wrong matt, I like the twins. Small market, scrappy, small ball, underdogs, and used to play in a dome. Remind you of a certain team? Anyone? Anybody at all?
Dan **thinks the signoffs are a good idea and will now be starting his own** Mckewen
February 17th, 2010 at 11:48 am
I got a position as an Administrative Assistant/ Mascot Relations with the Miracle. After graduating in Dec Ive been ubber busy. As for the fantasy baseball I would love to do it again and Im sure the old man is in as well. We do alot of the leg work for the Twins like the program, gameday operations, local ticketing, concessions and merch. I cant wait until the Sox come in on the 5th.
As for backing the Twins, I need to set things straight. I will always be a Sox fan, but I have learned to adopt a secondary team. I am going to be the most conflicted fan in Fort Myers on the 4th @CoP, 5th @ the Bill, and the 6th again @ CoP. I know that the Sox are the team I grew up with, but it is extraordinarily difficult to root against something you are wholey a part of and emersed in daily.
I guess ultimately, I am a Fort Myers Miracle fan who has Major League interests.

Let me know what works for everyone else and Ill make it happen.

Sounds like a perfect job for you Matt. Does this mean you’re going to draft a team entirely of Sox and Twins players?

February 18th, 2010 at 7:46 pm
Rays at 7? Whys that?
I noticed you had the Mariners at 4. Who doesnt love there dynamic duo? But whos in there rotation after that? And there lineup still doesnt have that one hitter that scares you.
February 18th, 2010 at 7:55 pm
There are a lot if really good teams. This list was hard to do. I wanted to find a spot for the Rangers.
To answer your question, I’m not sold on the Rays. I appreciate their young talent, but I anticipate the Rays play to be more reminiscent if the 2009 season, than the 2008. They got career years last year from Zobrist and Bartlett. I don’t think they repeat that. Also, I’m not sold on their pitching. Shields and Garza are mediocre and inconsistant. Price still needs to mature, Niemann looked good last year, and Wade Davis is a youngster with an inning count.
I wasn’t trying to hurt your feelings, it’s just the way I see it.
February 18th, 2010 at 8:15 pm
The interesting thing is the 2008 Rays got career years from nobody, and went to the World Series. The 2009 Rays got career years from several, and went nowhere. The addition of Rafeal Soriano is HUGE. People forget the Rays were within a few games of Wild Card until there bullpen wore down and imploded. Ben Zobrist is just getting started with what he can do, but I anticipate Jason Bartlett to regress a bit. Shields and Garza are very solid pitchers, they give you a chance to win every night. BJ Upton and Pat Burrell are big keys as well. I like the Rays alot, and this is an unbiased view of things. There no longer the hunted, there back to being the hunter. Thats huge as well.
I may be the only person in america who doesnt like the Red Sox additions this offseason. Lester is great, but there always seems to be something wrong with Beckett, and Lackey is the now the most overpaid 11 game winner in the majors. Bostons lineup has some serouis questions, Jason Bays 36 homers and AL Leading 120 something RBIs are gone, with nobody to replace them. Adrian Beltre is not as good a hitter as Mike Lowell, and when was the last time Mike Cameron did anything? David Ortiz is another year older, and I think Dustin Pedrioa is closer to the 2009 version than his 2008 version, his hits, doubles, triples, home runs, RBIs, and batting average all declined.
But as you said, just one guys opinion, if we liked our rival teams we wouldnt be very good fans would we? The only way to settle this is on the field.
February 18th, 2010 at 8:56 pm
lets make a deal. I’ll promise not to draft any Rays pitchers if you promise not to draft any Sox pitchers.
Dave ” 7 games is more that a few games from making the wild card” Ingalls
February 18th, 2010 at 9:59 pm
If Lester is there im taking him.
Dan “On August 1st the Rays were with 1.5 games of the wild card, on September 1st they were 4 games out” Mckewen
February 18th, 2010 at 10:45 pm
Unfortunately by the end of the season they were 11 games out.
Dave ” you can have shields & Garza, but price, niemann and Davis intrigue me” Ingalls
February 19th, 2010 at 12:39 am
Because of there bullpen, as I said in my statement, the addition of a closer goes along way to help with that.
Dan “ill take Garza, hes got great stuff and is another year older, and niemann, price and davis are pretty good and will get better, i dont want shields for fantasy, good for games, not fantasy. You can also have Lackey and Beckett, but there arent many pitchers I would take over Lester at this point, he is quite studly. And this might be the longest send off in the foulline.com history!” Mckewen

Seattle is going .500 AT BEST. Lee and Hernandez will win their games, but Rowland-Smith? Snell? Fister? So, simple math…if Lee and Hernandez win 2/3rds of their games and start 30 games… roughly.. this is saying Lee goes 20-10 as well as Hernandez, thats 60/162 games and at this point, 40-20. Rowland-Smith goes what, .500? to be 15-15 out his 30… 55-35. Ill even give the other two the benifet of 15-15 not to say either of them are capable of 15 wins… 85-65, thow in another 13 bullpen losses and your looking at an 85-83 season. AT BEST. Also, I have a feeling the Mariners are going to show up like the “highly touted Cleveland Indians” did 2 years ago when Kruk picked them based on their roster to make a playoff run. Injuries plauged the team. Bradley will cost the team at lest 5 wins with his mouth, Aardsma as their closer another 3-4, and their unimpressive bullpen also 7-10 more. If with the foreseen injuries, discontent, and lack of depth in the pen says anything to me, it simply states that this is another Angels AL West Championship.
Honestly… I could do this all day.
And Garza is a jackass. We have countless experiences with Garza and his Ego here at the Bill. You can have him, have fun watching him deteriorate over the remainder of his contract. He had a reason to pitch well when he first got traded, now that he is sitting pretty and has no real motivation to fuel his ego, he will coast until the last half of his final year of his deal. Garza was traded for A REASON.
Matt “Doesnt like Matt Garza.. could you tell” McLaughlin
February 19th, 2010 at 3:48 pm
We’ll see, if Garza’s ego is as big as you say, he will not stand out there and get shelled. It would be humuliating to him, and he wont have that. I agree on Seattle matt, as I said earlier, there is nobody in their rotation after the dynamic duo, and their lineup is weak.
Dan ‘thinks lackey is not a difference maker and is overrated, thus still picking the Angels out west” Mckewen
February 28th, 2010 at 8:15 pm

March 8th, 2010 at 8:39 am
What does everyone think about a March 21st draft?
March 8th, 2010 at 7:43 pm
That sounds fine with me, thats a sunday correct?
Dan “I just got back from port charlotte, what a gorgeus ballpark. My first outdoor game ever!” Mckewen
March 8th, 2010 at 8:31 pm
Good deal Dan… I went down to Fort Myers for the Red Sox/ Cardinals game. What a great day for a game!
The Charlotte stadium is beautiful, I live 15 minutes from it.
March 8th, 2010 at 11:16 pm
I saw the highlights from the game when I got home, Josh Beckett looked great, 3 hitless innings with 3 Ks. The public address announcer annouced gametime tempature was 73 degrees, couldnt draw it up any better.
March 9th, 2010 at 2:11 pm
Does anyone think March 21st is a bit early? We dont want our players to have any injuries before the season starts. Look at all the people who already drafted Joe Nathan. Im more than willing to do it on March 21st, but im just throwing that out there.
March 11th, 2010 at 6:16 pm
Ok let’s start figuring out who’s playing this year.
So far, this is who I know is 100% in:

6. Dan the #1 rays fans friend?
7. Sarasota redrays brother in law?

March 17th, 2010 at 1:42 am
I was never really into hockey, but that USA team got me into it. Epic tournament that was, Zach Parise is a great player.
March 17th, 2010 at 7:48 am
Ok here it is. You need to log in, create your team, and search for our league. The league is called thefoulline.com and the password is igotbeatbyagirl. I kept it simple by using something that you’re all very familiar with.
March 17th, 2010 at 10:22 am
If you’re having trouble with the password, take off the “irl” on the end. My smartass wife used too many letters.
March 17th, 2010 at 5:28 pm
Holy crap, only 2 spots left. Signup quickly!!!
March 17th, 2010 at 5:32 pm
thefoulline.com baseball league is the best in the nation, everyone knows that.
March 18th, 2010 at 10:17 am
Yeah Zach Parise is a gun, so is Ryan Kessler, that guy is the Canadian killer. Oh and that Ryan Miller fellow isn’t too shabby either. I’ve never been that into hockey as well, (in comparison to anyone else in Canada) But you’ve gotta love the international tournaments.
