Drinking And Trading, Week Twelve

Forgive me for being so brief, but I don’t have a lot of time this week, busy busy busy, not to mention Chris Sale is pitching at 7pm and I’d like to be finished with my errands by then, so let’s just get straight to the rankings!

Week Twelve Power Rankings

1) Believe The Hype– Allan retakes the #1 spot as the only 9-3 team in the league. Serious reinforcements are heading to his pitching staff, as he grabbed Jose Berrios in a trade with Rays Those Cowbells, and Cole Hamels is making his long-awaited return off the DL. The rich get richer?

2) WillisBeTheYear– Had a really bad performance and takes a tough loss in a very winnable game. To make matters worse, a game of division leaders is looming against Allan. He’ll need his absolute best effort if he wants to avoid one loss becoming a two game slide.

3) Rays Those Cowbells– Put up 381 points and absolutely smoked Dylan for my sixth consecutive win. I can’t remember the last time I was this excited about my fantasy baseball team. I’m the leading scorer, I’m on a long winning streak, and Mike Trout hasn’t played in a month. I can’t wait until he returns!

4) sportsmanMike– The peaks and valleys continue with this team, but he’s rebounded from a mid-season slump and is back sitting in the 4th and final playoff spot. Every time I think Mike is a sure fire contender, he goes on a losing streak, and every time I write him off, he goes on a winning streak. This team is tough to figure out.

5) Love Boat Captains– The name of the game is scoring more points than your opponent, and even though it was another ugly week for the LBCs, this time it results in a win. Another strong week offensively helped hide another crappy week from her pitchers, and you have to wonder how long this team can contend without getting some pitching help.

6) Yankeehaters– A six game winning streak feels like six years ago, as Dave finishes up his 0-3 run against the boys from St Petersburg. It warms my heart more than you know that not only did I beat him, but Allan and Mike proceeded to kick him while he’s down. But has anyone heard from Dave? No trades, no comments, no contact whatsoever. Does Dave feel his fall from contention is inevitable? Is that why he’s gone radio dark? Fight back Dave, you still have a good team.

7) Roger Dorn– We’ve all been there. A few times a season, a team you play just has a crazy good week and there’s nothing you can do. That happened to Dylan this week, but you know he’s gonna bounce back strong. This team has fought all year long, and will continue to do so. He’ll be a factor in the playoff race, I guarantee it.

8) RedRays– This team needs Madison Bumgarner back in the worst way. Two games back of a playoff spot and facing the hottest team in the league in Rays Those Cowbells, this week could be make or break for the RedRays.

9) The October Boys– This team is going to continue to climb in the rankings, the roster is too good. Forget the record, this might be a top four team in the league based on talent. A long winning streak wouldn’t shock me in the slightest.

10) Stogies– What else can you say? Nine straight loses and counting, this season is a full on nightmare for Dave V.

Game of the Week

Believe The Hype vs WillisBeTheYear

Another much hyped showdown of “1 vs 2”.

Good luck to everyone in Week 13!

    Numero Uno

  2. Foul line Dave Says:

I’ve been sequestered in a cabin, deep in a wifi & cellphone inaccessible cabin. I was able to get the occasional fantasy baseball update. Am I concerned over my 3 game losing streak? Absolutely.
    Am I worried? A bit.

I’ve had some preliminary talks with a few teams that may be ready for a blockbuster.
I’m glad I was able to provide some joy to the lives of the St Pete 3.
Buckle up… the next couple of weeks could be interesting

Thanks for checking in! It’s good to see you’re back in the world of communication again. I’d be quite interested to here more about these “blockbusters” you’re cooking up. I’m always up for a good deal, and it’s been quite awhile since I made a big one. Send me some offers if you’re so inclined.

I wouldn’t worry too much about your slide, playing three brilliant baseball minds like us can be a real pain for even the best of us, especially all back to back. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.
